Caroline Landau (b.1991) is a queer, multidisciplinary artist that works with glass, video, and paint. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013 with a BFA focused in painting, drawing, and printmaking. Landau completed her MFA from San Francisco Art institute in 2016 and currently lives and works in Oakland, California.
Over the past 4 years, Landau has been working on the Archiving Ice Series. Initially taking place in Svalbard, Norway, she replicated ice “bergie-bits” using wax and a camping stove during the Arctic Circle Artist Residency. The following year, she returned to Svalbard and the same tallship to continue with this body of work. The series was included in the New Glass Now exhibition at the prestigious Corning Museum of Glass andwas shown in the Glass Meet the Future Film Festival with Northland Creative. Landau has also discussed thiswork on a panel with the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, as well as with Urban Glass Quarterly; a leading publication of the field.
Through her pioneering work in the Arctic, Caroline Landau highlights the drastic environmental impact ofclimate change and aims to spark additional dialogue around the world about what we can do to save ourplanet and its precious and finite resources.
