Mapping a Paradox, by Ezra Cohen, demonstrates the artist's attempt to create order out of uncertainty through a meditation on the familiar. On the surface, these paintings appear to be about the artist’s studio. Beneath that surface lie questions, observations, and a private struggle. For Cohen, his Hell’s Kitchen studio is a uniquely spellbinding and safe place. Yet his exploration of it also becomes a meditation on the broader—and often unsafe—world we inhabit.
Mapping a Paradox will be on view at 168 Suffolk Street from April 10th through May 17th.
